The Mind Behind The Design

DISCOVER GROUNDBREAKING INNOVATION

thougtfully designed, technically superior

As the pioneers of inflatable paddleboards back in 2008, we’ve seen it all when it comes to construction processes, techniques and materials. That’s why we produce every board in our own private facility, to our specific specifications. It means we have complete control over the design and construction process, creating boards without compromise.

V-HULL

Inflatable paddleboards are mostly formed of two platforms suspended apart at a set distance, which requires more effort in order to propel a board forward due to the board needing to push more water out of the way. Our design team looked into how they can create a board that allows you to travel faster, with less effort required. Their solution? The V-Hull.

The V-hull is a V profile shape on the bottom of the board which allows the board to break the water more easily, while reducing friction. Not only does the V-Hull add the added benefit of travelling faster with less strokes, it also enables you to paddle on a greater variety of water surface conditions.

Compact Technology

We are always trying to push boundaries of what we can do and as such we wanted to create a board that is even easier to transport, allowing more people to be able to access the water.

To achieve this, our design team worked closely with material specialists to craft a revolutionary new material that allowed the board to be folded even smaller. This led to the Compact being a Red Paddle Co patented folding system, allowing a boards final package size to be reduced by up to 50% compared to standard inflatable paddle boards. This also meant that the team had to reduce the bag and paddle size.

Due to it's technology, our compact paddle board range is easier to transport as well as more ergonomic and comfortable to carry than a standard board - allowing you to be able to access more remote waterways and previously inaccessible paddle sites. A smaller package also results in environmental benefits as they are smaller to ship and transport, resulting in a smaller amount of carbon emissions.

Speedtail

On traditional flat-tailed boards, the larger surface area at the rear can create drag, resulting in slower water release and lack of performance. To address this, our team worked on a "quick release tail" or Speed Tail.

The sharp trailing edge breaks water surface tension which enables a faster, smoother, more efficient paddling experience. Similar technology can be found on high-performance speed boats with square sterns, with the aim to improve glide and manoeuvrability on larger vessels to help with efficiency.

Due to this addition, the Speed Tail allows for a smoother paddling experience at higher speeds as well as more stability across different water surface conditions.
